Lots of makeup, jewelry and accessories cluttering up your dressing table? Organize them easily. It makes your life so much easier that you will just fly out the door in the morning, and at night you will go to bed knowing that you will wake up to a clean room.
Collect all of your makeup, jewelry, medicines etc. from around your room. Sort it into four distinct piles: Make-up, jewelry, health care, and accessories.
Now sort each pile into three more piles: things to keep, things to get rid of, and things that don’t belong in your room.
Put any health care items such as plasters and Vaseline into a make-up case or bag. You can keep this case with your other make-up items or in your bathroom medicine cabinet.
Put all hair bands and scrunchies into a box together. You can put hair slides and clips into a box or jar. If you choose a box, skip the next step.
Put any make-up you rarely use into another make-up case which you can keep in a big bag. On your dressing table, you can have a small box or tray for make-up you use every day. Remember to have travel cases ready.
Keep perfumes, body sprays and large bottles of lotions and creams elsewhere if they don’t fit in your make-up case. They’ll clutter up your dressing table easily if you have a lot, so unless you use them daily keep them in the medicine cabinet or the bathroom instead.
Now move onto your jewelry. Try to use just one jewelry box or stand to avoid misplacing different pieces. Also, if you have any matching sets of jewelry, try to keep them in the same area for easy access.
Inside your jewelry box, keep necklaces, bracelets, rings and brooches in different sections.
If you have lots of earrings, you can use an earring caddy to organize them.
You should now have only the accessories pile to sort through. Hang scarves on the back of your door, keep them in your underwear drawer or tie them round the pole in your wardrobe.
Keep hats on the back of your door, in your underwear drawer, in your wardrobe or (if you have enough space) on a hat stand.
Now take the items that don’t belong in your room to the place where they do belong.
Throw away the make-up in your ‘get rid of’ pile as another person shouldn’t use make-up you’ve already used. You can either throw away, sell, or give away the other items in your pile.
Pile the boxes on your dressing table or night stand.

তবে শহুরে পরিবেশে এখন জায়গার পরিমাণ ক্রমেই কমে আসছে। আগের যৌথ পরিবারের জন্য ছিল বড় বাসাবাড়ি। এখন বেশিরভাগ মানুষই নিজের মতো ছোট সংসার নিয়ে থাকতে পছন্দ করেন। আর শহর এলাকায় বাড়ছে ফ্ল্যাট বাড়ির জনপ্রিয়তা। সাড়ে সাতশ থেকে পনেরশ স্কোয়ার ফিটের ফ্ল্যাট বাসায় রান্নাঘরের জন্য বড় জায়গা রাখা কোনোভাবেই সম্ভব হয় না। তাই বেশিরভাগ বাসাগুলোতেই দেখা যায় ছোট রান্নাঘর।
বেশিরভাগ গৃহিনী তাই প্রায়ই আফসোস করে বলেন, “রান্না ঘরটা ছোট হয়ে গেছে, আরও একটু বড় হলে ভালো হত।” বা “ছোট রান্না ঘরে একজন কাজ করলে আরেকজনের নড়াচড়া করার উপায় থাকে না।”
তবে কিছু কৌশল রপ্ত করতে পারলে ছোট রান্নাঘরও হতে পারে মনের মতো।
এ বিষয়ে কথা বলেন, বাংলাদেশ গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজের গৃহব্যবস্থাপনা ও গৃহায়ন বিভাগের প্রধান নাসিমা নাসরীন। তিনি জানান, সাধারণত ছোট রান্নাঘরের আদর্শ মাপ বলতে পাঁচ বাই আট ফুট ধরা হয়। স্থান ও প্রয়োজন ভেদে এর পার্থক্য হয়ে থাকে|
ছোট রান্নাঘর কীভাবে কর্মোপযোগী ও আকর্ষণীয় করে তোলা যায় সে বিষয়েও কথা বলেন নাসিমা নাসরীন।
তিনি বলেন, “ছোট রান্নাঘরে সাধারণত ‘One Galley’ বা এক দেওয়াল বিশিষ্ট এবং ‘L’ প্যাটার্ন বেশি উপযোগী|
তবে এক্ষেত্রে লক্ষ রাখতে হবে রান্নাঘরের জায়গা কতটুকু| যদি রান্নাঘরের ভিতরটা লম্বাটে ও সরু হয় তবে ওয়ান গ্যালি ডিজাইন বেছে নেওয়া যেতে পারে। সেক্ষেত্রে এক পাশে পানির সিঙ্ক, তার পাশে কাটাকাটি জন্য জায়গা রাখা যেতে পারে। অন্য পাশে চুলা বসানো সুবিধাজনক হবে। তবে এক্ষেত্রে খেয়াল রাখতে হবে চুলা যেন রান্নাঘরের দরজার সঙ্গে না বসানো হয়|”
“যেহেতু জায়গা কম তাই চুলা, সিঙ্ক ও কাটাকাটির নিচের পুরোটা অংশ এবং উল্টাপাশের দেওয়ালের উপরের অংশে কেবিনেটের ব্যবস্থা করলে প্রয়োজনীয় সামগ্রী ও অন্যান্য জিনিসপত্র রাখার জন্য পর্যাপ্ত জায়গা পাওয়া যাবে|” বলেন নাসিমা নাসরিন।
অন্যদিকে ‘L’ প্যাটার্ন রান্নাঘরে চুলা ‘L’ এর শেষ প্রান্তে, সিঙ্ক মাঝখানে এবং ‘L’ এর শুরুর দিকে কাটাকাটির জায়গা রাখলে কাজের জন্য সুবিধাজনক হয়| এক্ষেত্রে ‘L’ এর নিচের অংশে কেবিনেটের ব্যবস্থা করা যায় বলে মনে করেন তিনি।
নাসিমা নাসরীন আরও জানান, ছোট রান্নাঘর আপাতদৃষ্টিতে বড় দেখানোর জন্য উজ্জ্বল রঙ যেমন: হালকা হলুদ, সাদা বা ক্রিম ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে| এছাড়াও বড় মাপের টাইলস ব্যবহার করে এবং উপরের কেবিনেটের নিচের অংশে সাদা ‘স্পট লাইট’ ঝুলিয়েও ছোট রান্নাঘর বড় দেখানো যায়|
রান্না করার সময় স্বাভাবিকভাবেই ধোঁয়া হয় বেশি। তাছাড়া নানান ধরনের সবজি ও মাছ-মাংস কাটাকাটির ফলে গন্ধও হতে পারে। তাই রান্নাঘরে ধোয়া নির্গমন এবং গন্ধ যেন না হয় সেজন্য পর্যাপ্ত আলো-বাতাসের ব্যবস্থা থাকা উচিত।
বাতাস চলাচল ও রান্নার ধোঁয়া বের করে দেওয়ার জন্য সঠিক দরজা জানালার ব্যবস্থা ও কিচেন হুডের ব্যবস্থা রাখা দরকার| অনেক ক্ষেত্রে প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী ‘এগজোস্ট ফ্যান’য়ের ব্যবস্থা করা যেতে পারে|
রান্নাঘরের নিরাপত্তা ও সুবিধার কথা বিবেচনা করে কখনও জানালার নিচে চুলা স্থাপন করা উচিত নয় বরং জানালার সামনের অংশে কাটা-বাছার জায়গা হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে|
রান্নাঘরের সঙ্গে যদি বারান্দার ব্যবস্থা করা যায় সেক্ষেত্র তুলনামুলক কম প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসগুলো বারান্দায় রাখা যেতে পারে। এতে রান্নাঘরের জায়গা সংকট অনেকটাই কমিয়ে আনা যায়। তাছাড়া রান্নাঘরের জায়গাও কিছুটা বাড়বে এবং কাজ করতেও সুবিধা হবে|
আরও কিছু টিপস
রান্নাঘরের কিছু কিছু জায়গা অব্যবহৃতই থেকে যায়। সেসব জায়গায় র্যাক বা হুক লাগিয়ে প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিস ঝুলিয়ে রাখা যেতে পারে। মসলার সরঞ্জাম রাখার জন্য অতিরিক্ত কাবার্ডের ব্যবস্থা না থাকলে দেওয়ালে তাক করে সেখানে সাজিয়ে রাখা যায়।
বাজারে এখন মাল্টি পারপাস কিছু যন্ত্রপাতি পাওয়া যায়। ব্যবহারের জন্য ভালো ব্র্যান্ড দেখে প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিস কিনে নিলে একবারে অনেকগুলো কাজ করার উপকরণ পাওয়া যাবে।
রান্নাঘরে পানি এবং ময়লাও বেশি হয়। তাই রান্নাঘর সময় মতো পরিষ্কার করে নেওয়া জরুরি।
রান্নার পর ব্যবহৃত জিনিস পরিষ্কার করে যথাস্থানে গুছিয়ে রাখার অভ্যেস করা দরকার।
যত্ন
রান্নাঘর নিয়মিত পরিষ্কার রাখা এবং যথাসম্ভব যত্ন নেওয়া উচিত। এজন্য সপ্তাহে কমপক্ষে একবার গরম পানিতে সাবান ও স্যাভলন মিশিয়ে রান্নাঘর পরিষ্কার করার চেষ্টা করুন।
শসা কেটে টুকরা করে রেখে দিলে ইঁদুর আসে না| তাই রান্নাঘরে ইঁদুরের উপদ্রব কমানোর জন্য একটি ছোট বাটিতে শসা টুকরা করে কেটে রেখে দেওয়া যেতে পারে| তবে সেটি নিয়মিত বদলে দিতে হবে, কারণ শসা দ্রুত নষ্ট হয়ে যায়।
রান্নাঘরে বিভিন্নরকমের মসলা ব্যবহারের জন্য ঝাঁঝালো গন্ধ সৃষ্টি হতে পারে। রান্নাঘরেই হাতের কাছে পাওয়া যায় এমন কিছু জিনিস ব্যবহার করে এই ঝাঁঝালো গন্ধের হাত থেকে মুক্তি পাওয়া যায়|
এজন্য একটি বাটিতে লেবু বা কমলার টুকরা করে কেটে অল্প পরিমাণ পানিতে ভিজিয়ে রেখে দেওয়া যায়। এছাড়াও দুর্গন্ধ দূর করার জন্য এলাচ ও তেজপাতাও ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে।
